Waltz with Bashir, the Academy Award nominated film from Israel, tells the story of Ari, a former Israeli Army soldier who fought in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties. When an old friend tells Ari about his nightmares, Ari realizes he can’t remember anything about his own time in the war. The film follows Ari as he interviews his old friends and comrades to try and fill in the gaps. It was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, and now its director of animation Yoni Goodman has released a short film titled Closed Zone about the effects of Israel's Gaza blockade on Palestinians.
